Scientists from units within INRAE

Like other INRAE metaprogrammes, HOLOFLUX is open to all scientists working in an INRAE unit (UR, UE, UMR, USC, etc.), whoever their employer. This means that these scientists can participate in all the events proposed and become involved in different actions implemented by the metaprogramme, either as a project leader or as a partner in response to calls issued by the metaprogramme.

The overall objective on HOLOFLUX is to create an interdisciplinary scientific community and research dynamic focused on the themes of this metaprogramme. To achieve this, HOLOFLUX organises scientific events (seminars, webinars, training courses, etc.) and issues calls for projects in the context of different actions (consortia/networks, exploratory projects, emblematic projects, PhD grants).

Eligibility

  • Most events organised by HOLOFLUX are intended for the INRAE community.
  • Metaprogramme funding is only available for scientists from INRAE units (UR, UE, UMR, USC, etc.), whoever their employer.
  • If you do not belong to an INRAE unit, you can nevertheless participate as a partner, but you will not be able to receive any funding. Go to the page on External partners.

Type of actions funded

  • Consortia (networks). Aim: to create or consolidate new scientific communities in all areas covered by the metaprogramme. They must involve scientists from at least three INRAE Divisions and have clearly identified deliverables that will contribute to advancing the metaprogramme’s scientific priorities: incubation of an ambitious project, compilation of a reference article, organisation and implementation of a scientific event, etc.
Maximum duration: 18 months. Maximum budget: €10,000. Submission in a single phase as the need arises.
  • Exploratory projects. Aim: to support interdisciplinary, exploratory, innovative and risky research projects. Depending on each call, they may concern all areas or just specific areas of the metaprogramme, and should involve participants from at least two different units.
Maximum duration: 2 years. Maximum funding: €50,000. Submission in two phases: letter of intent and then complete project.
  • Emblematic projects. Aim: co-construction with the Steering Committee of an ambitious interdisciplinary project which must:
    • Be structuring in terms of the scientific community within the Institute (multi-units, multi-Divisions, presence of academic and/or industrial partners),
    • Make an important contribution to advancing the scientific priorities of the metaprogramme,
    • Have an international strategy and scope.
    • Duration: >2 years. Maximum funding: €300,000. Submission in several phases, in interaction with the Steering Committee.
  • Half-grants for PhD students. Aim: to jointly fund PhD projects on metaprogramme themes.
Two half-grants/year. The other half of the funding to be found by project leader from outside INRAE.

Frequency of calls for projects

  • Calls for consortia, emblematic projects or exploratory projects take place every year or every two years.
  • Calls for PhD grants are issued every year in June for submission in September, with the PhD project starting between September and December of the following year.

Announcements of calls for projects and events

  • All calls for projects and all events designed for INRAE units are announced on the HOLOFLUX intranet website.
  • An internal newsletter publishes these announcements.
